Finding Common Ground with Stephen Morgan, MP for Portsmouth South

Portsmouth Friends of the Earth members found “common ground” with Stephen Morgan, MP for Portsmouth South. We all want urgent action on cleaning up our rivers and seas. We asked Stephen to write to the Prime Minister about the need for  funding nature-based solutions and he has agreed to do so.

Stephen Morgan joined Portsmouth Friends of the Earth on our community walk, “Sewage, Storms and SUDS” which highlighted the importance of removing rainwater from Portsmouth’s combined sewage system by using raingardens and other nature-based measures in order to stop the sewage spills. The walk took place on Saturday, 12 October, which marked the end of the first 100 days in office for the new Government. The date has been picked by environmental groups to meet with their MPs to find ‘common ground’ on climate and nature issues that matter most to us.

Photos below show the letter Stephen Morgan MP has agreed to write, as well as a list of Ten Things we can all do to Slow the Flow based on key points from our walk.
