Portsmouth & Southsea Virtual Wildlife Watch – Basking Shark on Saturday 27 June 11-2pm.  During this session we will create our own bottle basking shark made of anything you have at home.  Click on the link for the meeting details.

Mass Lobying of MPs on Tuesday 30 June. A coalition of environmental groups is calling on MPs to put people, climate & nature at the heart of our nation’s recovery. Register with either Wildlife Trusts or Climate Coalition and your MP will arrange a time to meet with you & a group of other local constituents for an online meeting.

Greenpeace Portsmouth monthly online meeting – Wednesday 1 July at 7:30pm.  Find out about their local transport campaign asking the government not to spend £27 billion on roads but instead to spend it on walking and cycling.

Mapping power and influence in your community on Thursday 9 July 7- 8:15pm.
 Portsmouth Green Drinks – talk about Passivhaus and Portsmouth Housing on Thursday 9 July at 8pm.  Rachel Mitchell, a local designer will talk about the 2050 carbon targets and what needs to be done to achieve lower EPC ratings.

How to Run a Play Street – residents workshop on Saturday 11 July, 10:30-12 organised by Playing Out.

My Planet; My PhotoPlanet Aware is collecting your positive memories of these strange times from around the Isle of Wight and the Solent.  Send your photos in with a few words about why they are important and they will donate £1 for each person contributing to the Hants & IoW Community Foundation to help combat the effects of Covid 19.

Protecting Road Verges – If you see a road verge in Hampshire which you think is particularly important for wildlife, contact Hampshire Biodiversity Information Centre and they’ll survey the area for you and decide whether to designate it as a Road Verge of Ecological Importance which will give it more protection.

Make your own Plastic Challenge this July with support from the Marine Conservation Society to help stop ocean plastic pollution.  What challenge will you set yourself?  You could switch to reusable bottles, make a promise to avoid plastic food packaging or even try to cut single-use plastic out for the whole month and beyond!
