Together we will explore how increasing traffic and declining insects and bird numbers have reshaped our streets and what we can all do to counter this.
Meet 10.15am for 10.30am start for a short (1.6 miles) leisurely-paced walk organised by Portsmouth Friends of the Earth to support Portsmouth’s 100th anniversary. The linear route ends at Castle Road where there are several places for refreshments.
We will pause at various locations en route to focus on two changes over the the past 100 years that have made a significant impact on our street environments – the increase in motor traffic and the decrease in insects and birds. As well as identifying the effects of these changes, the walk will highlight positive ideas for further action.
Please book your free ticket if you can, it’s helpful if we can have an idea of how many people to expect but you’re more than welcome to just turn up!
